News and Events

The first term for Conexus Altrincham was both exciting and hugely rewarding as we opened the doors of our beautiful venue for the first time to some really diligent and committed students.
St. Mary’s Church has been at the heart of Bowdon for over 1000 years and hosted the sessions throughout February and March that will recommence as soon as possible, with everyone safe and well and ready to go, most likely at the start of the new academic year.

Practice Assessment Day
March saw a dozen students join us in order to test their skills by taking on an English Language paper 1 mock exam. For braving the wind and rain on a Saturday morning, they were rewarded with a past GCSE examination for which they all received a grade and detailed feedback that will help them improve in future! These committed students were an absolute pleasure to meet and a privilege to support and we hope to see some of them again in September as they start year 11.

Unprecedented Times
Since school closures and safe distancing measures were put in place, work at Altrincham Conexus has been forced away from our Bowdon venue and has moved online. Students at primary and secondary level have been supported since, through a variety of live teacher led sessions that have ensured the learning doesn’t have to stop and can still be in the hands of experts.
Lessons so far have covered the 11+ and entrance exams, reading skills for years 7, 8 and 9 and also GCSE content for year 10’s faced with a 4 month gap in their education at such a vital time. One GCSE English lesson analysed how both tabloid and broadsheet newspapers have reported the coronavirus crisis: interesting reading!
